'The Fact that the ship has been held up since April has caused us to lose three Trans-Atlantic voyages. This has caused a loss to the port of London and to this country of 18,000 tons of valuable foodstuffs. And in addition we must not forget the terrible disappointment of 2,400 displaced persons awaiting in camps in Germany for transportation to the freedom of Canada, and who would, but for the strike, have been carried there in my ship. FCU. If you multiply the loss in foodstuffs through the hold up in my ship with the number of ships now affected by the strike you can readily understand how vital its speedy settlement becomes. My most earnest wish and the sincere wishes of my officers and 41 members of the crew who have returned to duty is that the London dock workers will return to work and allow my ship to sail again about her lawful and humanitarian business.
