Gossip from Peter Noble, Monty Norman sings cowboy song, John Fitzgerald reviews films.
Film Fanfare No. 16 - section 1.
After sweeping overture played by the Studio Orchestra conducted by Muir Mathieson, Paul Carpenter introduces Peter Noble with his 'Studio Gossip' spot.
Peter briefly interviews glamorous blonde Russian / Scottish Magda Miller who is starring in 'The Circle Affair'. Peter then talks about Diana Dors who has signed a contract with RKO for £27,500 for one picture. Tiger Joe Robinson now starring in German film called 'Love'. Richard Todd signed for 'The Sitting Duck' (story of 'The Amethyst'). 'The Good Companions' starring Janette Scott and Eric Porter. The book 'My Old Man's A Dustman' by Wolf Mankowitz.
Monty Norman then sings 'Shifting, Whispering Sands' on a set dressed to look like the American west or desert (cactus and rocks). (A very gloomy song concerning the ruination of a community by the encroaching sand).
John Fitzgerald reviews the latest film releases - 'Patterns of Power' with Van Heflin and Everett Sloan. 'The Intimate Stranger' starring Richard Basehart, Mary Murphy and Constance Cummings. 'The Last Hunt' with Robert Taylor, Stewart Granger and Debra Paget. His reactions leave room for clips from these films to be inserted but no clips are shown.
