  • Description

Titles read: "FLAG WITH A HISTORY".

A Home Counties Aerodrome, somewhere in Britain.

Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands arrives in uniform at the aerodrome and meets the Belgian Defence Minister, Monsieur Gutt, and the Secretary of State for Air, Sir Archibald Sinclair. M Gutt makes a short speech and presents the Standard of the Belgian Air Force to the Belgian section of the RAF.

Commentator explains that the flag was presented to the Belgian Air Force by the late King Albert in 1919. With the second German invasion in May 1940 it was placed in a shell case and buried in a wood near the Belgian coast. There it lay for over a year, until recently a young pilot officer went back to his country and recovered it. Newly promoted officers hold the corner of the flag while taking the oath of allegiance. An air force band plays while airmen march past the dignitaries present. End shot shows aircraft flying in formation.

II found an old movie called "The Flemish Farm" and found based off of the movie how self sacrifice and proud of ones flag "The Belgium Air Force Regimental Flag". Risking ones life and many others for the service of one's country in defeating the Germans in retrieving that proud flag. My salute to all of the brave men and woman of the Belgium Armed forces of yesteryear and the Belgium Resistance and of today's Belgium Armed Forces. I had to research the history of the flag as I do with many black and white movies and learning the history of the movie, the actors, actresses, and who they represented. I enjoyed the movie "The Flemish Farm" and the history movie "Flag With a History, 1942. I look forward to future Belgium movie news reels.
