Dogs have their paw-print taken for identification purposes.
C/U of a dog in a pound. The dog jumps up and looks excited. L/S of three men holding dogs. Sign behind the men reads: "Chenil du Pont d'Essey. Mon. Jouhant" These are presumably French kennels.
The men pet the dogs then the dog seen earlier has its paw-print taken. Man carefully presses the dog's paw on a piece of paper after having pressed it onto an ink pad. Intertitle reads: "Two prints are taken and a complete record of all particulars kept..." C/U of the paw-print on the piece of paper. Another print is taken. "In France they have a new method, or rather a new adaptation of an old one, for identifying dogs - footprints." (Seems that this intertitle should have been at the front of the film?) Story incomplete.
