In Chinese Opera, as well as in other forms, the clash of good and evil is a standard format. LS as the performance winds up with a comedy interlude of a poor boy who seeks the hand of a wealthy princess. The boy wearing the black silk cap is the hapless swain and the bearded lord looks on his romance with disdain, spills him to the floor. CU of audience laughing at the action. CU as the hapless swain makes another try to win his suit. CU of audience reaction. CU 'take that, young man' as the swain tumbles for last time.
