Scenes from the show "Phi-Phi" starring Stanley Lupino and Jay Laurier.

  • Description

Extracts from the stage show "Phi-Phi" at the London Pavilion theatre.

Introductory title reads: "How to get your pals away when the wife returns unexpectedly - Stanley Lupino and Jay Laurier show how it's done - " Slapstick style goings on in a stage set. The protagonists seem to be dressed in some sort of Roman outfits. Two men disguise themselves as a camel with the help of a tablecloth. Their friend's wife has a fainting fit in fright. Next is a dainty little dance from "Ding, Dong, Dell"

Four chorus girls do a high kick routine. At first they are all behind one another in a row so that only the first girl can be seen. They then move around until they are in a row facing the audience. They have their arms around each other and move around in synchronisation. "The Ballad Singer is slightly discouraged by his partner (Stanley Lupino)" C/U of the pair as the Ballad Singer begins his song. The strange stringed instrument which is being played by his partner suddenly emits a stream of water. They look around to see where it is coming from. His friend squirts him a few more times, he finds it very funny until it accidentally goes and sprays him. They leave stage left.
