A London to Brighton walking race - won by J H Ludlow.
Full title reads: "London - Brighton. 'From Big Ben down to the Sea'. J. H. Ludlow (Derby WC) wins Surrey Walking Club Championship, over famous course in record time of 8 hrs 1 min 6 secs. (Hard luck Tommy Green, everybody hoped you would do it!)
London to Brighton.
Tilt down the tower of Big Ben (Palace of Westminster - Houses of Parliament).
Walkers lined up for the start of London to Brighton race. An advertisement for OXO can be seen in the background. The walkers stride off - South over Westminster Bridge over the River Thames.

J H Ludlow of Derby walks through the crowd lined street of Crawley, West Sussex. Another walker - Rickards (sp?) is not far behind. Tommy Green is the next walker through - he has held the Olympic record and won the race previously.
