American soldier receives 43 foot letter from his girlfriend and family.
At an American Army Camp at Colliers End we see various shots of GIs queuing for post at the mail room. One soldier, Corporal Norman Burian, finds a small cylindrical parcel amongst his mail and opens it back in his hut.
It turns out to be a 43 foot long letter, written to him on tabulating paper by his girlfriend, family members and friends from his home town of Chicago. With the help of his fellow soldiers, Norman unrolls the entire letter, stretching it around the hut as he goes.
