    Competitors race across track and get into their cars. M/S of signs reading 'Depart' and 'Arrivee'. French President Vincent Auriol points at something while he talks to another man. Cars start off in race, with dust clouds behind them.

    Several shots of cars driving around track. Crowds, some wearing berets and newspaper hats, watch the action from the sides. Car 22 comes into pits and is refuelled then starts off again. Shots at dusk of cars coming along with headlights on. Night shots of cars in race.

    Back to daylight for remainder of item. Men hold up lap boards for cars as they zoom by. Car 22 comes in as chequered flag is waved - winners, Luigi Chinetti and Lord Selsdon in Ferrari. C/Us of winner Chinetti as he wipes his face. M/S of second place driver Henri Louveau (Delage). Shots of President Auriol chatting to winners.

    The race featured here isn't a Grand Prix, it's the 1949 "24 Hours of Le Mans".

    The event took place on 25 and 26 June 1949.

    "Chinotti" is Luigi Chinotti.

    "Louveau" is Henri Louveau.
