• Short Summary

Upper class country wedding with fox hunting guests.

  • Description

Full title reads: "North Molton, Devon - "In the good old English style!" Picturesque scenes at 'Hunting' wedding of the Hon. Shelia Bampfylde & Mr Dennis F. B. Stucley - both ardent lovers of the Chase."

The bride Sheila Bampfylde walking up the path towards the Church. Crowds of people standing on either side of the path. The bride is wearing a long dress with a shawl and train. Her train is being held by a man (I assume him to be her father or Uncle). As she enters the Church doors the shawl is removed and the train and veil are pulled out .

Exterior shot of the tower of the church. The flag of Saint George is flying and the church bells are ringing.

As the happy couple come out of the church they walk through an arch formed by their friends from the fox hunting community with their riding crops. They are all dressed as if ready to go out on a hunt. The bride and groom walk down the path followed by their bridesmaids. The bridesmaids are obviously cold as they are putting on fur coats as they walk from the church.

The couple pose for photographs at the gate of the church. There are a couple of policemen there to look after the crowds. They climb into their car and are driven away.

The bride and groom stand with their hunting colleagues. C/U of the happy couple. One of the huntsmen plays his horn (not seen). The couple turn and walk into a tent.

The sound on this story is merely natural sound - there is no commentary.

There appears to have been a shorter, silent version of this item in Gazette 1883. This is currently missing.
