Two stories - one about eating dogs (!), the other showing an Indonesian funeral.
No title. High angle shot of crowds - place unidentified. Panning shot. "The natives are up early to pick their dog for dinner." M/S showing some scrawny looking dogs. Panning shot of people and dogs. "They buy him thin -- fatten him on rice -- HOT DOG!" M/S of a young boy with three dogs. "If you ask, 'How can you eat dog?' They answer, 'How can you eat pig? Dogs are clean!" M/S of people and dogs. "The people of the Southern Celebes are Mahometan Animists, who do not believe in burial underground. -- Dutch East Indies." (Indonesia) L/S of a funeral procession in an ornamental garden. "Death, to them, is a happy deliverance and it is celebrated with a band and white uniforms." Closer shot of the mourners. Various shots of the funeral procession. They push a highly decorated cart which presumably contains the body. "They seal the body in an exposed cement tomb which is supposed to be 'suspended in mid-air and upheld by four angels." L/S of the tomb. Camera pans, showing the other tombs around it. A very elaborate set of mausoleums.
Note: probably a section from a "Walter Futter's Curiosities" film, probably bought in by Pathe for reuse.
The title is a bit of a misnomer as the funeral is in Indonesia.
Safety neg only.
