• Short Summary

Jean de Casalis as Mrs Feather speaks to her garden supply man - dupe of PT 272.

  • Description

No titles. Comedienne Jean de Casalis as 'Mrs Feather'.

    Pathe Studio.

Jean de Casalis is introduced by a man sitting at a gramophone player who says "And now for a broadcasting favourite...". As he picks up a record he says that "There's something here that you can't get from a record or from broadcasting". He introduces one of her 'Mrs Feather' sketches as "a very involved telephone conversation remotely concerned with Dig For Victory". As he places record on turntable he urges us to "watch her hands.... they're very funny".

Jean de Casalis plays a smart well spoken lady speaking to her garden supply man. The whole sketch relies on innuendo and double meanings as she complains of creepers that do not perform when put in their bed, things that sag badly, supplying a young bean for her husband, the length and breadth of the beans, having a couple of little pansies etc.

When Mrs Feather asks the garden supply man if there is anything else he can suggest, the reply comes back "a raspberry"! She says "But you gave me one last year, you know... you think it's time I had another?".

Note: sound quality is quite poor on this print - check PT 272.

This is duplicate of item in Pathetone PT 272 - see separate record for details.
