    A model liner is constructed in a workshop - hull design is tested in a tank.

  • Description

    No title. M/S of two men in a workshop constructing a model liner from pieces of wood. A clay mould is formed. Two men work on the mould. Hot wax is poured into the mould. Various shots of this process. The model is then shaped.

    A "Pantograph" cutting machine is used. Scale drawings are used to guide the wax cutters. C/U of the instruments used. M/S of the machines cutting into the wax. M/S of several men in the workshop shaping the wax model. They use flat tools to scrape across the surface. "Now the real purpose of the great Tank appears - testing the efficiency of the hull design."

    Various shots of the "Froude" tank being used. C/U of man operating the controls. "A recording drum records the speed and resistance of the much as 30% in fuel saving has been obtained through these model tests. C/U of a revolving drum with marks being made on the paper. High angle shot of the tank.
