Quirky restaurant with a conveyor belt transporting various foodstuffs around the interior.
No title. "Ever hear of the Merry-Go-Round restaurant? It looks all right from the outside. -- Minneapolis, Minn." L/S of an American street with a large restaurant in the background. Pedestrians walk along the street. "But look!" M/S of a large amount of people seated either side of a long thin table. There is a conveyor belt with different types of food moving along it. Each type of food has a label above it. "If you miss the coffee, you take tea or wait for the second section to pull in." A charity appeal passes by "Please contribute to the New Hospital Fund" - there is a photograph of nurses and a glass jar in which coins can be placed. The next stand has a coffee jug upon it. Various trays pass by - a knife and fork tray, cups and plates, bread etc. L/S of the conveyor belt moving along as people eat and drink their fill. "the second section" intertitle is repeated. As is the first intertitle. Then "Here's the original kitchen band. It's curious because we don't know what it's all about. -- Portland, Ore." Ends here.
Note: This is an extract from a "Walter Futter's Curiosities" film, presumably bought in by Pathe for reuse.
Amber tinted print. Good footage of an early self-service fast food establishment. Quite quirky.
