    (Short Version)
    Introductory intertitle reads: "The Cunard Company have always carried out the maxim, 'Safety First'" L/S of the Aquitania at sea. "A view of the boat deck." High angle shot of the deck showing lifeboats. "Boat drill, which is carried out on all Cunard liners on sailing, to ensure that every person on board knows their boat station. Ship's company being instructed in their duties." High angle shot of a large number of crew standing on deck with their lifejackets on. Captain walks past to inspect them. C/U of three of the men. One looks like an officer, the others of a more lowly station - they wear flat caps.

    "Passengers, immediately after embarkation, are allotted boat stations and receive instructions regarding boat drill and how to adjust lifebelts." C/U of a sign which reads: "To Boat Station No. 5". M/S of woman in nurses uniform and others assisting passengers to put on their lifejackets. M/S of a man in a Macintosh putting on his lifejacket. He ties the ribbons, then puts on his hat and turns to show the camera different angles of him in his lifejacket. He stands beside a lifesaver or rubber ring with the words "Aquitania - Liverpool" upon it.

    "Notices are posted in all cabins, instructing occupants how to adjust lifebelts and where to proceed in case of emergency. Arrows in all passages and stairways indicate the shortest route to the passengers' boat stations." C/U of two of the notices and of the arrow signs.

    C/U of clock which reads 12 noon. "0.5 p.m., Captain stops ship and orders "abandon ship". Note "abandon ship" signal made on ship's syren" (sic) C/U of clock reading 12.05. M/S of young sailor at work on deck. C/U of steam emerging from sirens.

    "Staff captain giving orders to "clear away" lifeboats. Great shot of staff captain shouting through a megaphone.

    Note: there is a "long version" neg of this film which is the most complete. This version is missing some of the material that is in the long version, and does not contain any extra shots.
