    News in a Nutshell.
    Intertitle - 'Southwark' (Greater London) - L/S of fire-fighters lighting fireworks and bonfire at a display for their children. Various shots of the fireworks and the children watching with delight.

    Intertitle - 'Sheffield' (Yorkshire) - Fire brigade give practical demonstration of what to do in case of fires due to air raid bombs. Various shots as they pull a small portable unit and assemble it enabling them to start tackling the fire before the main unit arrives. M/S of foam pump turned on a building. M/S of a fireman covered in the foam, various shots of the building. The men sweep up the mess.

    Intertitle - 'Richmond, Surrey' - M/S of Lady Haig shaking hands with poppy makers at the factory, there are wreaths and arrangements of them in front. M/S of her making a speech, while they place crosses and wreaths on the ground, she congratulates them and urges people to buy them.

    Intertitle - 'Ilkley' (Yorkshire) - Children plant trees for the impending Coronation. M/S of a group of little girls holding shovels, and boys waving Union Jack flags. M/S of 'Ilkley Infants' sign and children standing around. M/S of the children smiling. M/S of Sir Percy Jackson, Chairman of the West Riding Education Committee, planting the first tree. M/S of the children waving their flags. M/S of little girls and boys shovelling the earth in, M/S of one boy getting stuck in enthusiastically.

    Intertitle - 'Northaw & Windsor' - M/S of boxer Ben Foord skipping in the ring, he boxes with another man during his practice session. M/S of him saying he hopes to be first British man to beat Neusel. M/S of his German opponent Walter Neusel using punchbag, M/S as he practices in the ring with another boxer. M/S as he has massage afterwards and says he feels like a million dollars.

    Intertitle - 'Manchester' (Greater Manchester) - M/S of locomotives being pulled through the streets on huge tractors that have to be steered at both ends. Various shots of their progress.

    Intertitle - 'South East London' - M/S of royal car drawing up at King's College Hospital, crowds watch eagerly. M/S as Prince Albert, Duke of York (later King George VI) gets out of the car and greets the Chairman, Lord Hambledon. He is followed by the Duchess of York (later Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother). Children wave flags as they enter the hospital. M/S as the Duchess walks past nurses who curtsey, she turns and waves.

    Intertitle - 'Madrid' (Spain) - M/S of Madrid and people in the centre, M/S of Franco's troops in trucks, some people applaud. M/S of others running through the streets.

    Intertitle - 'Durban' - (South Africa) - L/S of two ships, M/S of lots of people on a boat watching. M/S of a whaler which is too old to be serviceable so they have set fire to it in the sea. M/S of smoke coming out, various dramatic shots of the whaler burning then sinking.
