Intertitle - 'Table Bay' (South Africa) - Various good shots of the whaler "Zolhagen" (?) lying on its side in the sea, waves crash over it. M/S of the beach strewn with wreckage, and two lifeboats. L/S of the whaler and lifeboats. M/S of a survivor being carried along on a stretcher. M/S of a man being lifted from a lifeboat. M/S of the man on the stretcher being carried along, M/S of the survivors.
Intertitle - 'Guildhall, London' - M/S of the Guildhall. M/S of trumpeters playing a fanfare, various shots as city elders walk along in their robes carrying nosegays. M/S of Sir Percy Vincent, the retiring Lord Mayor, walking in the procession. Sir George Broadbridge is the new mayor, M/S of the pageant, M/S of the two mayors stood together.
Intertitle - 'Birmingham' (West Midlands) - L/S of Yardley Road bridge, weight is piled on top to see how much it can take before it cracks. Engineers watch it and look through surveying instruments. At 120 tons a bit breaks off the bottom but the rest stands firm. The bridge was only designed to carry 5 tons.
Note: the item 'First Mobile Post Office Inaugurated' is missing from this edition, however it is possible it could be the story entitled 'Mobile Post Office' in 36/76 on *PM0889*.
