    Graphic reading 'Olympic flame leaves Greece'. Soil is removed from the ground to be taken to Wembley, London, and the first runner runs away with the Olympic torch, lighting the torch of the next runner, who runs towards, and then past, the camera. At the local port, the torch is passed onto a Greek naval officer, who will transport it to Corfu. A small crowd watch the proceedings, then we follow the small naval boat in which the naval officer is holding the Olympic torch aloft. Wider shot of naval boat carrying the Olympic torch.

    The torch-lighting ceremony seen here took place on 17 July 1948.

    "At the local port" - this is Port Katakolon.

    Note that this footage is a duplicate of clip 1434.12.
