Unseen, the judges later review the decision from the newsreel footage, and deny Great Britain the gold medal by awarding it back to the USA. Shot of scoreboard showing Great Britain in the gold medal position. Men's marathon action, as Belgium's Etienne Gailly enters the stadium, looking rather shaky and fatigued, at the end of the race. Long close up of him running, before he is caught and passed by spritely looking Delfo Cabrera, of Argentina. Great Britain's Tom Richards enters the stadium. Wide shot of cheering spectators. Cabrera jogs down the home straight to take the gold, with nice low shot from behind the line as he crosses the line. He seems to be barged by a man in a suit on the track before being congratulated. Men's 4 x 400m relay final action. High shot of the start of the race, then low shot as the athletes take the first bend, the camera focussing on USA's Roy Cochran and Jamaica's Les Laing as they sprint together. Nervous spectators look on. Wide shot as the runners run the back straight, before we see the first change over, and the next runners sprint away. The crowd cheer them on. Close up Jamaica's powerful looking Arthur Wint as he takes the corner and seems to be closing in on the lead, when he dramatically pulls up with a pulled leg muscle, and rolls around on the grass in agony and beats the ground. USA's Mal Whitfield crosses the line to take the gold. Wint is put onto a stretcher as his team mates gather round. A fan with shaved head watches on. Dramatic shot of Arthur Wint as he stands, refuses to get onto the stretcher, and then weeps on a team mate's shoulder. Pathe News 'The End' logo and music.
