Out takes (rushes, cuts) for stories featured in CP 356
Cuts (rushes, out takes) for stories in Colour Pictorial - CP 356. The original stories are on Pathe Master tape *PM0157*.
01:07:58 to 01:14:41 cuts for story BULLET PROOF VEST in CP 356. Various shots of the bullet proof vest being manufactured at Leonard Barret's discreet London workshop and tested in a firing range at the West London Shooting Grounds, Greenford, Middlesex. This material is almost identical to that in the cut story - nothing particularly interesting or different.
01:14:41 to 01:20:17 cuts for story STAGE COACHES in CP 356. Some more shots of the goat cart - M/S of the goat having a harness put on and the little girl who drives the cart, Marilyn Lemmons. M/S of Marilyn attaching the goat to the cart with the help of a young woman. Various C/Us of Marilyn. M/S of Marilyn climbing into the cart and driving away - a rather cute little sequence that has been left out of the original story for some reason ... There are also various shots similar to the material in the finished version.
01:20:17 to 01:25:53 cuts for story MAGICIANS AT HARROGATE in CP 356. Various shots of the man on stilts, Ted Bailey, walking around and a magician, Salamander, performing in the window of a department store, Busby's. There are some shots not used in the final version - Salamander, for example, running his sword along a sharp sword and extra shots of the crowd of spectators. There are also some bizarre shots of magicians clowning about on the street - one man, Professor Eugene Duployen (aka Mr. E.) has a top hat and pale make-up and is walking around like a zombie! Another magician, Tom Harris, is dressed as a schoolmaster. There are also further shots of Salamander preparing to lie on a bed of nails. The group of magicians are then seen messing about in the crowd outside the shop and in front of the conference venue. Altogether the out take material is quite interesting - if a little surreal - and has not been used in the cut story!
