Cuts for story THE VARIETY CLUB in CP 626. Similar footage to cut story; children in the hydrotherapy pool at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Sid James arrives at a hospital and kisses two nurses; Kenneth More is seen with nurses next to a Christmas tree, stroking a nurse's face with the hand of a toy golly. John Alderton (or Jimmy Tarbuck - it's difficult to tell with the false white beard) in Father Christmas costume kisses a nurse; Ingrid Bergman in Santa costume; Ian Hendry hands a large present to a blonde in a Christmas outfit and signs autographs for nurses. Excellent shot as Kenneth More kisses a matron then looks rather disgusted!
Children climbing ropes at Hindleap, East Sussex; more footage of the hydrotherapy pool. C/U of Variety Club raffle tickets being sold; man mouthing "Thanks very much" then looking at film in the Pathe cutting room. Various shots of guests chatting at a luncheon; Billy Walker with the boys in Hindleap.
More guests at the luncheon; one could be George Burns (?). A Variety Club car arrives at the children's home with the projector; several shots of a man lacing up a film projector. Clapperboard snaps in front of Lord Mountbatten; he goes through his speech (mute). Ian Hendry (as Father Christmas) arrives outside the Southern Railwaymen's Home For Children in a Variety Club car; inside he distributes presents. Arthur Haynes (sp? Haynes) arrives at a hospital and kisses a nurse smack on the lips, then turns and pouts at the camera.
