Events leading up to the International horse race at Belmont Park where Zev beats Papyrus.

Intertitle - 'Green Lodge, Papyrus' home at Newmarket - the headquarters of horse racing.' L/S as camera pans across the sprawling Lodge. The horses ride through a gate, M/S as they all race off around the field without jockey or saddle, various shots as they have a good run. M/S of a horse being walked round in a circle. M/S as they are walked back into the stable yard. M/S of them in their stables.
Intertitle - 'The race brought together two evenly matched horses in physical measurements.' M/S of a diagram of the two horses, various measurements appear such as height, girth and weight and also measurements between the eyes. It also shows their family trees. Intertitle - 'Even Zev has British blood in his veins. His Sire - The Finn - is more than half British.' C/U of The Finn's head, it is walked round a field. Intertitle - 'Tracery - the Sire of Papyrus - the greatest race horse of his day.' C/U of Tracery's head and M/S of him in the yard.
Intertitle - 'Papyrus leaves and was well guarded against accident - his stall in the Aquitania was fitted with pneumatic cushions.' M/S as men pump the cushions up at the side and floor and test them. Papyrus is led up the ramp onto the ship.
Intertitle - 'At Belmont Park - Dr V. Pride-Jones, his veterinary Surgeon - and Basil Jarvis, trainer, right.' M/S of the two men stood with two others and the horse and jockey. C/U of the two men and the horse.

Intertitle - 'Thousand of cars parked in every space.' Various shots of the car parks which are all full. Intertitle - 'The Grand Stand and Track as seen from the air.' L/S aerial view of the course and stands at the side. Intertitle - '70,000 fans eager to see the best horse prove his worth.' L/S of the crowds, various shots make them look like ants.
Intertitle - 'Weighing in.' Various shots as jockeys get on the scales. Intertitle - 'Friendly Rivals.' The two jockeys shake hands and chat. The names of the horses and the odds are slotted into place and a wheel is turned to lift the board upright. M/S from above as the horses are led onto the course.
Intertitle - 'The Parade.' The horses walk up the course, one goes sideways. A man stands in a tower with a stopwatch.
Intertitle - 'And none watched with more interest than Major Belmont - the Promoter and Sponsor of the race.' M/S of the Major, he looks through his binoculars.
Intertitle - 'Off! Papyrus jumps off with the lead - but Zev soon overtakes him.' The two race off down the course, Zev goes out in front and we see the race from various angles. Intertitle - 'At the half mile, Zev leads by one and half lengths time 50 2/5 seconds.' L/S as they continue the race round the course. Intertitle - 'In the backstretch.' L/S as they race, Zev is out in front.
Intertitle - 'At the distance - Zev, whom conditions suited, comes away to win easily in 2 minutes 35 2/5 seconds.' Zev races ahead, he is quite a way in front, the crowds cheer from the stands. M/S of Zev trotting along after the race, M/S of the winning jockey smiling. M/S as they take Zev's blinkers off, the jockey dismounts. M/S of the American flag, it fades to show the horse and jockey on the field.
