Shropshire. Two spaniel dogs lie in a field as lots of rabbits run past. Shot and Cherry are gun dogs in training at the "Caledonian Gun Dogs University". A young boy and his grandfather (Mr McDonald) set out across fields with the dogs then Mr McDonald sets about training the dogs to retrieve. A dummy bird is thrown into the air, the boy fires a shot and the dog is sent to pick up the pretend bird. We then see the dog retrieving a shot bird from a lake. It looks like a pheasant. Pheasant hunting.
C/U of a telephone - a number is dialled - 999. This is a short film showing what happens when you phone the police emergency number. Interior of a Scotland Yard Information Room (control room). Man takes details from caller then gives information to his superior. They check a map to find caller's house in Acton. A message is given out through the radio to a squad car. Car is driven down a suburban street. Plain clothed policeman gets out and rings a doorbell. Woman comes to the door and is interviewed. She has received a visit from a "suspected bogus electric light company inspector". She points down the road and man gets back in the car. Car drives through rain. They following a man in a raincoat. Dick Barton type music on the soundtrack. "Trained police eyes miss nothing" says the narrator. Car pulls up alongside the man and he is spoken to by the policemen. The man turns out to be genuine but better to be safe than sorry.
