    M/S of Princess Elizabeth with Admiral Cunningham and Lady and Earl Granville on launching platform. L/S of bow of the enormous ship. L/S silhouetted crowds standing on giant cranes. Princess makes brief speech ("... and may God bless all who sail in her") and smashes champagne bottle against hull. Nine Spitfires fly overhead. Various shots of ship descending the slipway.     The launching seen here took place on 19 March 1946.

    Seen alongside Princess Elizabeth at 00:42 are Admiral Andrew Cunningham and Earl and Lady Granville.

    The young apprentice Jim Christian (jimmy) that is presenting the flowers to Princess Elizabeth now the Queen, Is my wife`s Father she is very proud to see her Father in the clip.

    My Dad was Jim Christian the 17 year old apprentice we are all very proud of him. Thanks to my brother in law for finding this clip.
