    Queen Elizabeth (Queen Mother) visits No. 600 RAAF at Biggin Hill, Kent.

    M/S of Spitfire on airfield. Queen's car arriving. Spitfires and crews in background and spectators in foreground. Queen alights and is received by Lord Cornwallis - Lord Lieutenant of Kent and Squadron Commander David Proudlove. Cars drive off past Spitfires. Several shots of the Queen inspecting Squadron as National Anthem is played. Queen is presented with a bouquet by a small girl - Wendy Thompson.

    Various shots of the Queen as she makes a speech. She says her appointment as honorary Air Commodore has given her very real pleasure, establishing a link between herself and the Royal Auxiliary Air Force of which she will always be very proud. She talks of the record of service of the 600 Squadron and its great distinction as a night fighter squadron in the Royal Air Force, claiming successes not only in the Battle of Britain but in North Africa and the Mediterranean.

    She says "I think that all of us who lived in and around London during the war have a very special feeling towards the squadrons who defended us and a great pride in their exploits." She thanks them for giving their voluntary service to the country. She hopes it gives them that spice of adventure and fun which makes life worth living. She talks of Biggin Hill being one of the famous fighter stations in the Battle of Britain and pays tribute to the achievements of "this splendid squadron". The Queen sits down and the Squadron gives three cheers.
