Bentley says: "Thank you, thank you ladies and gentlemen. For my first group of songs tonight...." Joy Nichols interposes: "Dick, Dick, we're not here to sing." Bentley: "Isn't this the East Finchley Working Men's Institute club and social night?" Edwards: "Oh,Bentley, we go on there afterwards. This carve up, this is the one we do for nothing."
Edwards: "Bentley, have you a few words you'd like to say?" Bentley: "Yes, certainly. Some years ago I was....." Edwards: "Thank you Bentley, we'll let you know. We really ought to take this thing seriously for after all today, instead of taking the mickey, we are taking the microphone. (He laughs). That was an award one, was it not? Yes it was."
