LS pan down mountain to party standing on mountainside. MS demonstrator using ice pick, he is surrounded by circle of pupils. CU pick cutting into ice, a spiked boot comes into picture. CU pan down from man's face to him using ice pick as he makes his way up mountain with others following.

CU ice pick cutting into ice, pan up to man manipulating rope, others follow behind on rope chain. LS ropes and men climbing up mountain. LS roped men climbing up mountain. Various good shots men jumping across crevasse. They continue on up mountain.

LS man picking his way over mountain, he falls down crevasse. CU another man, who is roped to him, hauling on rope. LS as another man runs up and sticks stake in ground. CU attaching rope to stake. CU man. MS man throwing rope over side of crevasse. Various shots two men hauling up trapped man. CU's rescued man reaching top of crevasse. One rescuer puts arm round him pan to other rescuer lighting pipe.

MS man suspended over crevasse before rescue. MS he ties another rope round him to begin ascent and is pulled to the top. MS he disappears over top of crevasse. MS looking up crevasse. MS as man at top throws rope over. CU coiled rope in hand. LS three mountaineers set out on their journey again.
