    In Rome, we see the newly crowned Pope Giovanni XXIII being carried on chair towards camera. General view of St Peter's Square with massed crowds in foreground. People kneeling. Pope on balcony reading blessing.

    In France, massed crowds surround General de Gaulle. De Gaulle walking in crowd and shaking hands with people. Sir Winston Churchill's car arrives; Churchill gets out of the car and shakes hands with de Gaulle. General de Gaulle presents Sir Winston Churchill with a medal - the Cross of Liberation. They shake hands and de Gaulle kisses Sir Winston on each cheek.
