  • Short Summary

Three women make flowers from shells - these are then arranged in spectacular displays.

  • Description

"Once upon a time it used to be 'She sells sea-shells'," said Mrs Francis-Lewis, "but, today, 'she' makes sea-shell flowers from the sea-shells - "

M/S of two women sitting at a desk working with shells. Woman in the background fiddles with a flower arrangement - presumably made with shell flowers. C/U of shells lying on the table - they look like petals. C/U of woman using a metal tool to make holes in the shells. She then threads wire through the holes. C/U of the woman's hands as she wires together several shells to make a flower.

"A little paint" - M/S of woman sitting at a table painting the flowers. C/U of group of the flowers in a vase. Finishing touches are made with a paintbrush. "And there you are - " M/S of the two women seen earlier arranging flowers around the outside of a basket. L/S of the three women and a table full of their creations. "Shell flowers - almost indistinguishable from the real" M/S of an ornament - a woman wearing a large skirt made from the shell flowers. Dissolve into a basket with flower arrangement. C/U of a very Japanese style flower arrangement with a dragonfly perched on the handle of the arrangement.

Was an item in Eve's Film Review issue number 597.

Note: cute little craft item. The women all wear white coats so could be a business rather than just a hobby. Some of the arrangements seem to have price tags attached.
