Spectacles through the ages ending with some fabulous 50s designs.
Various shots show spectacles through the ages. A man in 18th century dress takes out a pair of eyeglasses to read a piece of paper. A girl in Victorian dress uses a replica of Queen Victoria's glasses to read a book.
A woman in a wig (1700s?) wears some glasses with double extension frames. An Oriental girl puts on some large circular glasses that are 600 years old.
We then see several modern designs by spectacle designer Bettie Spurling. Fabulous cat-eye frames with diamante, flowers and gemstone decorations. Famous model Jean Dawnay wears a pair of glasses named after her. Final shot shows a woman looking through a rhinestone-encrusted pair of modern eyeglasses.
