    Pakistan ?

CU Pakistan Prime Minister H.S. Suhrawardy seated at table reading from a prepared statement. "Once again the Security Council is taking up consideration of the Kashmir dispute. ... The issue remains as simple as ever. Both India and Pakistan are pledged, and the Security Council is also a party to this solemn pledge, that the question of the accession of the State will be decided through the democratic method of a free and impartial plebiscite to be conducted under the auspices of the UN." He urges the UN to assert itself over India's challenge to its authority. "The situation in Kashmir is explosive. India is trying to hold down by force what she managed to grab by fraud.... The only factor that is standing in the way of a plebiscite is the demilitarisation of the State of Jammu and Kashmir which is a prerequisite to the plebiscite. We feel it would be in the fitness of things if the Security Council calls upon both parties to the dispute to withdraw all their forces from the disputed territory without any further delay....."

Note: This statement linked in paperwork to UN 2927 E which was dated 16/01/1957 when Pakistan's President made a statement.
