    Reel 2 We see the machines which twist strands of wire together. Various shots of men at work tending to these twisting machines. The history of insulated cables is narrated on the soundtrack. Various shots of the factory and of insulating tape being wound around the cables. High angle travelling shot of the largest laying up machine in the country - it is very big. Various shots of the machine in operation. Shot of cable being insulated, then being wound onto a huge core. The cable is covered with a sheath of lead. Various shots of the cables being wound and then tested. A huge bobbin of cable is lifted out of a vat of water - the cable has been tested by immersion. The cables are tested for pressure and insulation. High angle travelling shot of factory floor. Various shots of the factory floor, some travelling shots.
    Section of the factory which makes telephone cables is shown. Then part of the factory where they make cotton covered conductors - lots of women at work here. Various shots of women working on the machines on which the cable is covered by wire. Lots of shots of cotton and wire being wound. We see some of the processes in slow motion. Twin lead covered wire is shown.
    Resistance welders are shown in action. The bond (?) shop is featured. The bonds made here are used for rail joints on electric railway or tram lines. C/U of women at work. Men at work on machines. Cable drums are made at British Instructional. They make firewood from the waste wood in a special plant. This not only prevents waste but also makes a profit.
    The export department is shown - high angle travelling shot of large drums of cable being prepared for export. Cable being transported by a big vehicle. Exterior shot of large drum of cable being lifted through the air over the store yard. Lots of drums of cable are lined up. A Travelling "Goliath" Crane is used to move the drums. L/S of two lorries carrying the drums of cable out of the factory.
