    Southern Palestine.

    Every year a pilgrimage to the tomb of the Prophet Rubin takes place in Southern Palestine along the sandy dunes south of Jaffa. M/S of a camel train walking towards the camera. They are carrying people and lots of belongings on their backs. "Arabs, full blown Bedouins, and every type imaginable flock to the temporary city which grows like magic in the desert - " High angle shot of group of makeshift homes made from cloth and poles. People and camels mill around. A woman stands in a large puddle washing a goat. Two Arabs shake hands whilst a boy looks on. Another man comes in and shakes both their hands. Panning shot of a group of people in some kind of communal tent. M/S of people walking close to makeshift shops.

    "Fairs and markets flourish, shops, restaurants and side stalls spring up over-night, to administer to the needs of twenty to thirty thousand pilgrims and visitors here." Children stand around in front of a food stall. M/S of man preparing some food. He puts various spices and herbs into a mortal and pestle. He grinds them up. M/S of men in tall hats prepare other foods. A man tries to get his toddler to smile for the camera. High angle shot of man preparing circular bread for an oven. M/S of two men preparing the dough. C/U of a man and a teenage boy preparing small kebabs on skewers. They smile. "Neby Rubin, they call this temporary City - a City of a week, and suggestive of the Israelite Camps in the days of Moses." High angle camera pans across the city.
