    Full title reads: "The Stadium. Wembley. The Cup goes North! Newcastle United - the famous "Magpies" - defeat Arsenal by 2 goals to 1 in the presence of the King, the Queen & record gate."

    Wembley Stadium, London.

    View from high in the stands as the teams walk onto the Wembley pitch. A massive cheer is heard. Various different angles of the crowd. This is the English FA Cup football final.

    L/S of the two teams lined up on the pitch for their presentation to the King and Queen. L/S of the match in progress. After some midfield play, Newcastle attack. The ball is crossed in from Newcastle's left, it is headed out to the edge of the box by Roberts (?). A Newcastle forward dribbles at the edge of the box and then launches a shot which goes just wide. Boyd centres from the left to the far post where a Newcastle forward heads it at the goalkeeper who palms it away.

    Another long range shot from Newcastle is saved by Arsenal goalie Moss. More Newcastle attacking follows on the right wing - Hapgood makes a good tackle. A Newcastle cross from the left, Hapgood heads it out from the centre of the box. The ball is moved up by Arsenal to Hulme who loses the ball to the Newcastle backs. L/S midfield play. Now Newcastle are on the defensive. A good Arsenal cross comes in and the goalkeeper is nearly beaten. Newcastle defend stoutly. Weaver is playing an important role in the defence. Several more crosses come in from Arsenal.

    Intertitle reads: "John ... scored for Arsenal from fine centre by Joe Hulme after 12 minutes."

    Good footage of the goal. Joe Hulme runs down the wing and centres strongly. John leaps high in the middle of the six yard box to head in. One of the Newcastle players (Nelson?) lies injured.

    Intertitle reads: "And in Slow-Motion."

    L/S of Newcastle goal being scored. Crowd leap up. Good crowd scenes.

    Intertitle reads: "At Half time the scores were level at one goal each ... the feature of the game being masterful play by both 'goalies' and the very fast play by both sides."

    Newcastle start on the defensive. Joe Hulme of Arsenal is creating a lot of problems for the Newcastle backs. United get a shot in on a breakaway but it is saved by the goalkeeper. Arsenal shoot. Attack from Newcastle, a nice cross and good header, good save.

    Intertitle reads: "The Tynesiders exploited their advantage of the brilliant sun behind them in the second half ... very skilfully keeping the ball in the air as much as possible and despite Arsenals desperate endeavours their defence held out to the end."
    Intertitle reads: "The Queen presented the Cup amidst a hurricane of cheering - and so ended the great North v South 'Final'."

    The Newcastle team come up to the royal box for the presentation of the FA Cup by Queen Mary. The Arsenal team follow to collect their runners up medals.

    Newcastle take a lap of honour around the Wembley Stadium pitch. (See interview section)

    Interviewer shakes hands with Jimmy Nelson (Captain of Newcastle United) and Tom Parker (captain of Arsenal). The two footballers are seated behind a table, the interviewer is standing.

    The interviewer congratulates Nelson and commiserates with Parker.

    C/U Nelson as he talks to Parker. He commiserates.

    C/U Parker as he replies - "someone's got to win and someone's got to lose'.

    The two men shake hands.

    N.B. Newcastle and Arsenal played a hard fought FA Cup final at Wembley, with Newcastle winning 2-1. It is unclear where in the reel this item would originally have been.
