Various shots of 'On With the Motley' from 'Pagliacci'; the set shows the theatre tent of a travelling show against a painted backdrop of the Italian countryside. Tom Burke, as Canio, has discovered his wife has a lover and is about to attack her. Tonio, the hunchback, tells him to wait and the lover will appear. Peppe, the Harlequin, tells him the show must go on. Canio sings of his torment, and eventually goes into the theatre tent, weeping.
