Great song - an upper class gent has a troublesome monocle.
Full title reads: "Now Pathe Pictorial presents Tom Clare in an old favourite "My Bally Eyeglass".
Tom Clare sits at a piano in the Pathe Studio. The set is dressed to look like a hotel foyer or tea dance location. There are draped curtains in the foreground and potted palms all around Tom.
Tom plays the piano without looking at his hands - he looks at the camera. His song is sung in character - a very upper class gentleman who can't keep his Bally Eyeglass in his eye. He wears a monocle which serves to illustrate the song as it keeps dropping out as he sings. Various mishaps befall Tom due to the popping out of his monocle including missing out on marriage and having an argument with a policeman. Tom tells us all about how he wants to run for Parliament. He has been told he looks like Austen Chamberlain. He wants to ask Austen how he keeps his bally eyeglass in his eye.
It is quite a funny song!
