    A British Instructional Film - VILLAGE CHILDREN OF SOUTH CHINA

    Chinese script explained with graphic illustration. The title of the film is written in Chinese. Children in Southern China on their way to school through the countryside. They carry books in wicker baskets. The children play football in the school yard. Most of the boys play in bare feet. The girls play ring-a-ring-a-roses. One girl draws a hopscotch board in the sand with a stick. Boys play marbles. A teacher draws an elaborate design on the blackboard with chalk. He rings a bell and the children come into class. The head boy rings a bell and the children bow to the teacher.

    The teacher writes on the board. Large classroom with boys and girls of many ages sitting at desks. C/U of book being taken from wicker basket. Young girl reads, a boy draws in a book with crayons "made in England". A boy writes in his book with Chinese ink and a brush. Top shot of the village. Street scenes and interior of a house. A baby cries and mother picks him up and washes his face. She puts on a hat. He is then strapped on to her back. She eats a meal with the baby strapped to her back. Two boys eat with their mother. C/Us of them eating rice and fish with chopsticks. Mother takes baby out into the crowded streets. Many people milling around, children play in streets. Children working on the land. A young boy leads a cow out to pasture.
