    War of Roses on two Wheels. Cuerdon Park, Preston, Lancashire.

    L/S Pan. as the motor cycles roar away on the start of the lap final for the Daily Herald challenge trophy and the battle of roses trophy. M/S Crowd. L/S as the motor cyclists come up a hill towards camera and past. C/U Small child wearing crash helmet. L/S Pan. as rider coming down the hill leaves the ground but keeps the bike wheel under control L/S Pan. as another rider leaves the ground coming towards camera he skids off the course and goes past camera very near. L/S as riders come up out of a dip. L/S Several riders who have come off and others who are stuck in the mud the rest of the motor cyclists going past them out of the dip. M/S Crowd. L/S Riders coming up fast out of the dip one rider almost comes off.

    L/S Rider taking his bike through the ruts past a couple of other bikes that refuse to start. L/S Riders coming up a hill taking off as they hit bumps. M/S Pan. as one of the riders goes past camera. C/U crowd. L/S Pan. Rider going past camera up hill at speed. L/S Another rider whose rear wheel is spinning as he goes up the hill he loses control and the bike heels over he tries to hold it up but rolls back down the hill and he falls into the mud. L/S Riders coming along a fast straight. L/S as John Harris riding a B.S.A. being flagged home the winner. C/U John Harris holding the Daily Herald trophy pan down to C/U of the Trophy. L/S Crowd applauding. L/S Alan Jefferies presenting the "Roses" casket to N. Crookes who was the first Yorkshire man past the post finishing fourth. C/U Norman Crookes pan down to a C/U of the casket.
