Old Tony says
I vividly recall seeing this game. We travelled to London by train from our primary school and then walked in an orderly crocodile through the streets around the stadium. We sat in the stand opposite the Royal box on uncomfortable benches with no backs. Before the game we were entertained by some bloke running around the pitch and having his trousers dropped to him from a helicopter!. I also remember the deafening Royal Artillery salute and the community singing , which included, rather surprisingly considering the opposition, the WW1 song "Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag.". The game itself was a little disappointing since England lost. But, at least it didn't rain and I was amazed to find out from the film that I sat in a crowd of 95000! Thanks for the memory.
