  • Description

Shots of clearing skies. Log entries, "We are well past Cape Horn now = 800 miles at noon. Killed a pig - the big one". " 26th July 1929. 90th day. Crossed the Line today."
" 96th day. Just drifting. Food running low very short." " 3rd August. Still in the Doldrums. Flat calm. Captain tried to signal passing steamer."

A man at the top of the mast points. Below the men look over the side and see a ship in the distance. The Captain turns from looking out his porthole to a map of South America showing his course. With his pencil he taps the word "Doldrums". Shots of the sails hanging limply, a sailor clears some rigging, a dog is asleep, from the deck the ship appears to be going nowhere. Below decks the sailors lay around and chat. A man climbs down from the top of the mast. Two men look at their pinup.

On deck the dog barks. The men stir. The dog looks through a porthole. A whale is swimming on the surface. The men look over the side. The whale swims close to the boat.
Below decks the cook swaps some food for a pin up. The men return to the cabin and one of them catches his ship mate eating, they quarrel. He then opens a trunk and finds a letter addressed to Minnie Hackett in Melbourne. Our hero returns and finds the villain with his letter, after being taunted he punches the villain to the ground. After some words they shake hands
