    Teams of Sudbury "Nippies" have a women's tug of war. The girls have to have their shoes inspected - presumably for studs - so they crouch down on the ground and a man comes along and looks at their shoe bottoms.

    Note: the Lyons Corner House waitresses were nicknamed the "Nippies".
