  • Description

Wounded British (& Canadian?) soldiers coming ashore from ship; helped by sailors.

Really good footage and excellent quality - one can see the facial expressions of all the people. Opens with shot of soldier lifted down some steps by two others; then they put his crutches under his arms and he hops forward; towards camera. Another man on crutches salutes; shakes hands with nurse. More of same. Side shot of men moving; including man with bandaged head; ship's rolled up sail on mast in background nets.

More men on crutches coming down ramp; helped by sailors with cigarettes hanging from their lips. Man with bandage on eye smiles broadly Etc. One of sailors looks directly at camera. Another angle of same: sailors carry stretcher down ramp; more soldiers. CU men lined up close together; one with pipe.

A couple of soldiers stand waiting; man on stretcher is carried by; Red Cross nurse walks around to foreground. Old man in official sort of costume with ruffled shirt; long narrow hat; gold braids on shoulder; and a few other elderly important looking men; greet the veterans. Pan over heads of a group of soldiers.
