• Short Summary

Emanuel Shinwell is briefed on work for the week and makes a speech.

  • Description

King's Cross Station - train approaches the platform. Member of Parliament Emanuel Shinwell leaves the train with briefcase in hand. Various shots of Shinwell talking to "the man in the street" and soldiers in uniform. He shakes hands and chats.

We see Shinwell walking past the Houses of Parliament. Inside the House of Commons Shinwell discusses the week's work with Claud Morris - a parliamentary candidate who "may be an M.P. tomorrow". There is sync sound as Claud briefs Shinwell and they work their way through a "mass of letters as big as a film star's fan mail".

Shinwell walks along the terrace to prepare a speech. We see him trying to memorise a speech with the Thames and the House of Commons in the background.

C/U of a sign advertising a public appearance of Shinwell. We then see him making a speech (probably in the Pathe studio) and people applauding him. He speaks of how Britain has to rebuild shattered industries and put agriculture back on its feet.

Title includes mention of cameraman Terry Ashwood.
